(COLUMBIA, S.C.) Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026 — The South Carolina State Fair, the state’s largest annual event, is now hiring for this year’s fair, taking place Oct. 15-25, 2026, at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds. Temporary positions are available in a variety of areas, offering a unique opportunity to work behind the scenes of this iconic fall tradition. “This year’s theme, Rooted in Fun, celebrates the traditions, agricultural heritage and shared experiences that have made the South Carolina State Fair a beloved fall destination for generations,” said Nancy L. Smith, general manager of the South Carolina State Fair. “Each fall, nearly 500 seasonal employees come together to help bring those traditions to life while creating new memories for guests.”
Some positions may begin before the fair opens to assist with receiving and preparing entries for judging, while other assignments may continue briefly after the fair concludes to help return exhibits and complete post-fair responsibilities.

- Building attendant
- Overnight building attendant
- Circus usher
- Guest services staff member
- Home & Craft Department staff member
- Guest entrance attendant
- Ticket seller
- Vehicle gate attendant
- Fine Art Department staff member
- Student Art Department staff member
