Here at the South Carolina State Fair, we are celebrating the holiday season with our 4th annual downtown drive-through holiday light show. Whether this will be your first, or your fourth year visiting, we put together a guide to help you make those holiday-winning memories.
Our holiday light show is located at the Lexington Medical Center Fair Park at the S.C. State Fairgrounds, and you can visit Dec. 3-26, but we will be closed Christmas Day. Our times of operation are Sunday-Thursday: 6pm – 9pm and Friday – Saturday: 6pm- 10pm.
Once arriving, be sure to enter through gate 6 of the fairgrounds located at 901 George Rogers Blvd. This is where you can pick up a Carolina Lights scavenger hunt to complete with your friends and family. Coloring books will also be available, courtesy of Lexington Medical Center.
Protip: Crayons will be provided upon request.
After entering gate 6, you will come upon the ticket booth where our friendly staff will give you access to enter our light show. Entry passes can be bought in advance on our website scstatefair.org or can be purchased through our staff at the gate.
Once you have entered Carolina Lights, we ask that you remain in your vehicle and turn off your headlights to allow for a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
While driving through, tune your radio to 88.9 FM to enjoy holiday music sync’d with the light displays! Feel free to roll your windows down and sing along as you cruise through our showcase of more than 100 LED light displays.
We know that there’s no better pair than warm chocolate chip cookies and cold milk while making holiday memories, which is why we made these items, as well as various Pepsi products, available for purchase halfway through our light show. Just follow the signage to purchase cookies. Remember to stay in your car, as an attendant will approach your vehicle to take your order.
If you missed an item on the scavenger hunt list, don’t worry! You can ask our exit gate attendant for a pass to re-enter Carolina Lights. This opportunity is only valid on the same night of your visit, and will end 15 minutes before closing time, so be sure to not miss out!
After exiting Carolina Lights, remember to turn your headlights back on.
Some tips on making bright and memorable memories at Carolina Lights:
-Come wearing matching pajamas with your friends and family.
-Bring your furry friends to see the lights with you.
-Take selfies inside of your car and post them using #SCSFCarolinaLights.
-Sing the “Twelve Days of Christmas” song while passing our related light display.
-Bring hot chocolate to keep you warm while cruising through Carolina Lights.
