Holocaust Remembered
The Holocaust Remembered exhibit was created by the Columbia Holocaust Education Commission (CHEC) in 2008. Since CHEC’s founding in 2001, the commission has worked to fulfill its mission to memorialize the six million Jews and millions of others who were killed by Nazis and their collaborators, honor all South Carolina liberators and educate all South Carolinians about the Holocaust.
The exhibit is a “living exhibit,” with panels added between 2001 and 2015 to share the stories of survivors and liberators with South Carolina connections. The exhibit panels tell the stories of these local South Carolina citizens living throughout the state. Rooted in remembrance and education, these stories help deepen understanding of the Holocaust, its aftermath and the importance of preserving history for future generations.
SC250 Discovery Center
Explore South Carolina’s Revolutionary past at the SC250 Discovery Center, a refreshed exhibit found in the Ruff Building near the Rocket. Open year-round on the South Carolina State Fairgrounds for scheduled tour groups, the SC250 Discovery Center will welcome fairgoers daily during the S.C. State Fair.
Presented by the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission, the SC250 Discovery Center highlights South Carolina’s pivotal role in the Revolutionary War through immersive displays, reenactors, authentic weaponry and hands-on activities — including the chance to sign the Declaration of Independence.
This dynamic, family-friendly exhibit brings to life the stories, battles and heroes that shaped our nation’s future, offering a powerful way to connect with the roots of America’s independence and South Carolina’s Revolutionary War legacy.
