Opening days/weather statement

The South Carolina State Fair remains on schedule for a noon opening Oct. 10 with all planned activities and events.
Fair officials are closely monitoring the tropical system in the Gulf and are prepared to make any adjustments to the schedule as warranted based on any expected local impacts. Those decisions will be made daily, and the public will be notified of any schedule changes online at scstatefair.org as well as through statewide media outlets and the State’s Fair’s social media platforms.
“Our No. 1 priority remains safety, and any decisions about scheduling will be determined by what is in the best interest of our patrons,” said State Fair manager, Nancy Smith. “But right now, we are looking forward to our Wednesday opening.”
In the event of rain-only, Smith noted the fair has scores of exhibits, shows and other activities across the fairgrounds that can be enjoyed inside or under cover as well as numerous covered food tents.
“There is so much to enjoy at the fair, rain or shine, so we’d encourage our patrons to come on out,” Smith said.
The S.C. State Fair will run through Oct. 21 at Rosewood Drive and George Rogers Boulevard.
