This year, the South Carolina State Fair theme is “Prize Winning Memories” in honor of it's 150th Anniversary. Fair guests will be invited to enjoy 150th anniversary cake as the gates open on Oct. 9...while supplies last.
A free "CIRCUS at the Fair" under a 48-foot tall Big Top tent beside the Ellison Building near the South Gate Entrance. There will be three shows daily. The circus will feature motorcycle stunts, acrobatic and high-wire acts, rescue dog performances, camels, clowns and more. Show daily at 2:30 pm, 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
Free daily concerts in a new Pepsi Place 1,000-seat arena near the Nutt Cattle Arena, featuring local and regional artists. For more information, check out our entertainment page here
Murrells Inlet, S.C. -- home of the largest and most comprehensive collection of American figurative sculpture in the country -- will feature a selection of these works in the Cantey Building. The focal point of the Brookgreen exhibit, Prize-Winning Sculpture - Award-Winning Gardens in "Pledge of Allegiance" by Glenna Goodacre. This sculpture will be flanked by several other works of art and artistic garden designs. A display of artistic beauties from Brookgreen Gardens, a jewel from South Carolina’s coast.
Collectors’ items including a special pictorial postal cancellation stamp marking the fair’s 150th anniversary, a limited-edition coin and four unique posters commemorating the occasion.
Visit South Carolina's well-known historian, Rodger Stroup, in the Cantey Building daily to learn more about the 150-year history of the SC State Fair and to purchase an autographed copy of the book he authored, “Meet Me at the Rocket”. Rodger will be available at book signings during and after the fair.

An expanded Heritage Village - featuring historic cultural exhibits like pottery, bowl turning, broom-making, leather works and a blacksmith, moves to Hampton Plaza and will feature snapshots of yesteryear.

FRED will visit various locations in South Carolina between Sept. 4 and Oct. 8, selling discount fair tickets and celebrating the 150th anniversary. Visitors to the booth can spin a wheel for a chance to win a prize. For a list of locations and times visit findfred.org. New this year, FRED will come to life as a mascot. FRED stands for “follow the fun, ride the rides, eat the food, dazzle the mind”
The iconic Rocket will be decorated in celebration of its 50th birthday (originally erected on the S.C. State Fairgrounds in 1969). We are going to sing Happy Birthday to the Rocket each day around 5:45 p.m. following the ceremony honoring a Veteran.
