SC
State Fairgrounds Superintendent Retires
Trev
Bennett, SC State Fairgrounds Superintendent for forty-one years,
officially retired on May 1, 2006. A luncheon was held in his honor
in the Ellison Building. Along with his family and friends, guests
ranged from Fair Staff, Fair Superintendents (active and retired),
and persons whose businesses have held annual events at the fairgrounds
and who have worked closely with Trev in the set-up and tear-down
of these events. Well wishers recalled Trev's humility, honesty,
and hard work ethic as well as his many years of dedicated service
to the SC State Fair..."well done, good and faithful servant!"

SC
State Fair To Launch 2006 Fair Theme and "New Look" for
Website in July

Log on
to the SC State Fair website at http://www.scstatefair.org on July 5 for a "new look" of the redesigned home page
which will boast a modular design and interactive features that
reduce the need to click through to other pages.
Be sure
to check out the "User Only Section", whereby
the "user" logs in by creating a User Name and Password.
The "User Only Section" allows the viewer to use the Online
Entry System, create Plan Your Day schedules and personalized greeting e-cards,
add photos taken at the Fair to the site, download coloring pages, and much more.
Also,
a "HELP
Tutorial" has been added to
the Online Entry System to assist the
competitive exhibitor in registering his exhibit and/or animal for
competition in the Fair. All competitive exhibitors are encouraged
to view the HELP Tutorial by clicking on the link above. Just select
the department(s) you wish to view, and watch the tutorial movie
as it demonstrates step-by-step procedure.

SC
State Fair Partners with SC Department of Education via EdBlast

The SC
State Fair recently partnered with the SC Dept. of Education in
relaying education information via their e-mail newsletter, EdBlast. The SC State Fair needed help in
publicizing news of interest to a statewide audience, in particular,
teachers.
EdBlast!
is a new and exciting way to stay connected to our public education
system and get timely information concerning grants, professional
development, curriculum resources, and news you can use. If you
are interested in receiving EdBlast!,
here's the sign-up link: http://www.myscschools.com/edblast.

Attention:
Kindergarten Teachers

Teachers,
remember to schedule your class to visit the fair on one of our Kindergarten Day's, either Monday, October 16 or
Tuesday, October 17. Letters are no longer mailed to teachers as
a reminder to sign up for Kindergarten Day.
All
information will be available in September on the website at http://www.scstatefair.org. For more information contact Lauren
Funderburk at 803-799-3387 ext. 15.

Attention:
Art Enthusiasts

Decorate
your home or office with art work of your choice from the South
Carolina State Fair Fine Art Exhibition. Become a SC State Fair
Fine Art Purchase Patron by committing to purchase
art from the 2006 SC State Fair Fine Art Exhibition in October.
Proceeds go directly to the artists; there is no commission to the
SC State Fair. Deadline to receive full benefits of the Purchase
Patron program is July 31, 2006. Click on this link for additional
information and application:

Attention:
USC Football Fans & Tailgaters
Requests
for parking spaces are at an all time high. With the closing of
several parking lots around Williams-Brice stadium due to the building
of condos, it is becoming difficult for football fans to find a
place to park and/or tailgait.
We
still have a few sites left in the "Carolina" lot located
by the RV lot on Assembly Street. The "Mall"
area of the fairgounds (where the "Rocket" is located)
has been sold out since May. Not to mention the RV lot! We have rented every hook-up
site to season campers and are overflowing for some of the other
games into Gate 5.
If
you haven't reserved your site to park, call Steve Felsberg at 803-799-3387
ext. 22 or 1-888-444-3247 ext. 22 for an application or go on line at http://www.scstatefair.org/throughout-the-year/usc-reserved-parking.php.
Also
available online are applications for RV/Camper parking reservations
throughout the year and RV/Camper parking reservations for Concessionaires
and Commercial Exhibitors during the 2006 South Carolina State Fair.
Click on the Throughout the Year menu tab, and
follow the drop-down menu. Or e-mail Steve
Felsberg or telephone 803-799-3387, ext. 22 for more information.

Become
a Sponsor of the 2006 South Carolina State Fair
Since
1869 the South Carolina State Fair has been a part of Columbia's
landscape. Over its twelve-day run (an extra day has been added
to the 2006 SC State Fair), the fair offers a unique opportunity
to reach a very large and diverse segment of our population.

attendance for the last ten (10) years is 576,286. The largest attendance
was in 2004 at 630,152 when we had perfect weather for the full
eleven (11) days.
There
is no better time than now to become a part of this great tradition!
