Exhibitors must be registered according to the Entry Registration times listed above. Exhibitors may register either online at http://www.scstatefair.org or by postal mail on 2008 Official SC State Fair Youth Wether Goat entry form (or a copy) and mail to the South Carolina State Fair, Entry Department, P.O. Box 393, Columbia SC 29202 during the Entry Registration Periods. There is no entry fee when received during the Open Entry Registration Period. Late fees will apply when entry registration is received during a Late or Very Late Entry Registration Period. REGISTER IN AUGUST!!!

Only South Carolina 4-H and FFA Wether Goat Project participants will be allowed to enter the event. Only the youth's project wether goat may be entered in the event. Only the project participant is allowed to show their project wether goat. If the project wether goat dies prior to the show, the youth may enter and exhibit a doe in the appropriate division and/or costume class, but may not exhibit in the market class.

The youth must be able to maintain control of their goat at all times during the event.

Exhibitors must furnish feed and water for their goats while located on the State Fairgrounds.

Project Wether Goats must be registered at the fairgrounds beginning at 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM on the day of the event. Project participants must be pre-registered and must enter Gate 5 on Assembly Street. The Nutt Arena (livestock barn) will be closed until 11:00 AM for cleaning. No animals or project participants will be allowed in the barn before 11:00 AM.

Showmanship Classes will be divided by the age of the child as of January 1st of the current year and will be listed as follows:

  • Beginner Division – must be age 5 and must not be age 9 on January 1st of the current year.
  • Novice Division – must be age 9 and must not be age 12 on January 1st of the current year.
  • Junior Division - must be age 12 and must not be age 14 on January 1st of the current year.
  • Senior Division - must be age 14 and must not be aged 21 on January 1st of the current year.

All Market Class entries should be entered into Class 0200. Market Classes will be divided on the basis of the official weight of the wether goat on the date of the show and will be listed as follows:

  • Class I
  • Class II
  • Class III
  • Class IV
  • Class V

Participants of the South Carolina Wether Goat Project may show one (1) doe in each of the following Doe Classes:

  • Spring Doe (born after March 1 of the current year)
  • Fall Doe (born between September 1 of the previous year and February 2 of the current year)
  • Yearling Doe (born between August 30 two years previous and August 30 of the previous year)

The Costume Class will be open to all project participants.
10.
Excellent sportsmanship and conduct is expected.
11.
The Judge's decision is final.
12.
The barn will be closed at 8:00 PM on the day of the show. All animals and equipment must be removed by 8:00 PM on the day of the show.
