Entry Fee Policy
1.
Online Entries - Fees must be charged to a major credit card.
2.
Postal Mailed Entries - Check or Money Order made payable to SC State Fair must accompany entry registration form.
3.
Entry registrations received without required entry/exhibitor fees will not be processed and will be returned to exhibitor.
4.
Checks will not be accepted following the Late Entry Registration Closing Date. Late class changes/additions must be paid in cash.
5.
Entry fees are non-refundable.

Youth/Open Horse Fees

1.
Exhibitor Fee $5.00 per Exhibitor; (All Riders/Handlers listed on entry form are considered Exhibitors);
2.
Entry Fee Per Class $5.00; (exception: Lead-Line is free)
3.
Animal Trailer Gate 5 Parking Fee ($25.00 each) must be ordered at time of entry registration;
4.
Additional Gate Admission tickets ($5.00 each) must be ordered at time of entry registration;
5.
Tack Stall Rental Fee ($25.00 each) must be ordered at time of entry registration;
6.
Late Class Changes/Additions $10.00 per class (may only be made during check-in) and must be paid in cash.

YOUTH AND OPEN HORSE SHOW

SECTION 1201, CLASSES 0001-0046

1.
The South Carolina State Fair General Rules and Regulations in conjunction with the American Horse Shows Association Rules shall apply.
2.
Please direct questions regarding the show to the Superintendent or Administrative Assistant whose contact information is listed above under Personnel.
3.

ENTRY PROCEDURE - VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ

  • Entry Registration is required and must be received during the Entry Registration Periods.
  • Submit entries using Online Entry System or by Postal Mail on 2008 SC State Fair Official Youth/Open Horse Entry Form (or copy) and mail to SC State Fair, Entry Department, P.O. Box 393, Columbia SC 29202.
  • A Responsible Party should complete the entry form with the Riders and Handlers being classified as Exhibitors. All premiums will be paid to the Responsible Party. It is this person's responsibility to distribute this money as they see fit.
  • The Birth Date of each Rider/Handler should be listed on the Entry Registration Form for all classes with exception of Class 35 Junior Western Pleasure and Class 37 Senior Western Pleasure where you should list the birth date of the horse.
  • Exhibitor Fee of $5.00 from each Rider and Handler and Class Fees ($5.00 per class) must be paid at time of registration and are not refundable.
  • Lead Line Class is free.
  • Class changes/additions may be made only during check-in; any additional fee payment must be in the form of cash following the entry closing date. In addition to each $5.00 per class entry fee, an additional $10.00 per class for each class change or addition will be assessed only during check-in (cash only).
  • Premiums will be paid only if all show fees have been paid.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

The original Coggins report dated within the last twelve (12) months prior to the show is required and must be presented to the Youth/Open Horse Superintendent upon arrival at the fairgrounds or during check-in. DO NOT MAIL the Coggins report with entry form. All out-of-state animals must have a Health Certificate issued within thirty (30) days of the show by a licensed and accredited veterinarian. All vaccinations should be current.

EXHIBITOR AGE REQUIREMENTS

YOUTH Exhibitors must be eighteen (18) years of age or under as of January 1 of current year. OPEN Exhibitors must be age nineteen (19) or over as of January 1 of current year.

NEW IN 2008 - WALK/TROT AND WALK/JOG ENTRANTS

All Walk/Trot or Walk/Jog entries are not eligible to enter in the remainder of the classes (i.e. those that require a canter or a lope). In other words, if an entry is in a Walk/Trot class, she can only enter other Walk/Trot or Walk/Jog classes.

7.

CONFIRMATION LETTERS, PASSES, WRISTBANDS

Online Exhibitors will receive a confirmation of their online entry registration at the completion of online entry. Please print a copy of your online entry form for your records. Confirmation letters along with trailer parking passes and wristbands will be mailed in early October to the Responsible Party for Exhibitors (Riders & Handlers).

GATE 5 ADMISSION POLICY (VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ)
In order to provide and insure the necessary parking space for towing vehicles transporting show animals for exhibit at the SC State Fair, livestock exhibitors will adhere the following policy:

Gate #5 parking passes for animal towing vehicles may be purchased for $25.00 at time of entry registration. Youth exhibitors will receive two (2) wristbands and adults will receive one (1) wristband. Wristbands will be included in the mailing of confirmation letters to the Responsible Party in early October.

Horse Show exhibitors (riders & handlers) must park in the Gate #6 free parking lot on Assembly Street. All spectators and auxiliary staff for exhibitors will park at Gate #6. If Gate #6 parking is full, you will need to find parking elsewhere.

Purchase of advance gate tickets is advised. Gate #6 opens each day at 7:00 a.m. for parking. Admission will be permitted beginning at 8:00 a.m. if they have tickets in hand. Purchasing tickets at the ticket windows will not be available until one hour prior to normal opening times.


No vehicle will be allowed to turn into Gate #5 without a pass unless it is towing an animal trailer. Passes will not be allowed to be passed out at Gate #5. Any vehicle inside the Gate #5 parking area without a pass displayed will be towed at the owner's expense.

9.
Stalls are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no stall fee.
10.
Tack Stall rental available at time of entry registration for $25.00 per stall.
11.
Barns A, B, and C will be available to horse show exhibitors after 6:00 PM on Friday, October 10, 2008.
12.
Exhibitors not displaying their show number will be asked to leave the ring.
13.
All animals entered in the show or stalled in barns must be manageable or will be excused from the ring or asked to leave the grounds.
14.
The Show Committee and SC State Fair reserve the right to test any animal at any time for suspected drug abuse, to be paid by the exhibitor of the animal.
15.
No trailer or vehicle parking at the barns, in front of stalls or driveways between barns, or in the inside aisles.
16.
Premium Awards will be mailed to exhibitors following the show. Exhibitors are responsible for receiving any awards won during the show. These awards will not be mailed to exhibitors.
