OPEN CHICKEN DIVISION RULES AND REGULATIONS

The show will be held under the rules of The American Poultry Association, The American Bantam Association, and The South Carolina State Fair. Poultry will shown as singles only. All specimens must be banded with numbered legbands and number recorded on entry form to identify your animals.

All registered feathered fowl, except pigeons, shall originate from U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean or equivalent flock, or have a negative Pullorum-Typhoid test within ninety (90) days of registration. Each bird must be identified with a tamper proof band at the time of the test.

A copy of the Pullorum-Typhoid testing must accompany the birds. Present papers to Superintendent before birds are placed in coops.

A licensed blood tester will be available on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. There is a charge for this service. Due to the threat of Avian Influenza to the poultry industry in South Carolina, no poultry from any state that is presently under federal quarantine, in whole or part, for Avian Influenza will be allowed. This also applies to poultry that has been within said states in the last twelve (12) months. Chickens and turkeys should have been vaccinated for Fowl Pox more than thirty (30) days prior to the Fair opening.

Birds will be received beginning at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 and must be cooped by 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2008.

Birds will be released on Sunday, October 19, 2008 from 7:30 AM - 10:00 AM or after 7:00 PM -- NO EXCEPTIONS to these times.

Classes are provided for Cock, Hen, Cockerel, and Pullet. Cockerels and Pullets to be 2007 hatch. Entries open on all breeds listed by the APA and ABA.
