Circle K’s Generous Donation Boosts South Carolina State Fair Scholarship Program with $34,000 Donation

Circle K Scholarship Presentation
Birthday Cake Steve White

On Monday, January 22, 2024, the South Carolina State Fair received a significant boost to its Ride of Your Life Scholarship Program as Lauren Connor, Circle K regional director of operations, presented a generous $34,000 check to Nancy Smith, General Manager of the South Carolina State Fair. The occasion gathered key figures from Circle K, South Carolina State Fair staff, and EMC Tickets.

Nancy Smith shared her enthusiasm during the presentation, stating, “This is an exciting day for the S.C. State Fair as we join with our partners, Circle K and EMC Tickets.” This marks the fourth consecutive year of support, with this year’s contribution adding three scholarships to the planned fifty $10,000 scholarships. Now, a total of 53 deserving high school seniors across South Carolina will benefit from these substantial scholarships. Notably, one scholarship is exclusively designated for a Circle K employee or dependent.

Following Nancy Smith’s expression of gratitude on behalf of the Executive Committee and the entire staff of the South Carolina State Fair to Circle K and EMC Tickets, the event took a joyous turn. The day coincided with lunch and a birthday cake for Steve White, CEO of EMC Tickets, adding a layer of warmth to the occasion.

The South Carolina State Fair, a self-supporting 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, takes pride in its commitment to education. The 27th annual Ride of Your Life Scholarship program, now open for applications until March 15, 2024, allocates over $500,000 in college scholarships to high school seniors across the state. The fair has a rich history of awarding more than $5 million in scholarships since 1997, reflecting its dedication to shaping South Carolina’s future through education.

It’s essential to note that Circle K stores and EMC Tickets play a pivotal role as partners of the South Carolina State Fair. They actively sell tickets for the annual state fair.  Together, they contribute not only to the fair’s success but also to the educational aspirations of students statewide.
