                                                       All containers and accessories must be claimed on this date.                                                        

The SC State Fair and the Show Committee will not be responsible for items left after this time.

1.

The South Carolina State Fair General Rules and Regulations shall apply in conjunction with The South Carolina State Fair Flower Show General Rules and Regulations.

2.
The Arrangement/Designs Division is open to any amateur arranger. You do not have to be a Rose Society member. The Arrangement/Designs Division is NOT open to professional florists or anyone who arranges flowers for a living.
3.
All arrangements are by advance entry only and will be limited to four (4) per class due to space.
4.
Outdoor roses of high quality should be used in all arrangements, but need not have neen grown by the exhibitor. All roses must be named on the entry tag. Each arrangement must be the work of the exhibitor placing the arrangement. Accessories are permitted in all classes. A card of explanation may be used.
5. ROSES must be the DOMINANT FLOWERS in all arrangements.
6.
Other plant material may be used in classes where permitted. The use of artificial plant material, treated or painted plant material on the SC conservation list and the use of live creatures are not permitted. The American Flag is not permitted in any form.
7.
Backgrounds and underlays are to be used in all classes except Class 3 and must be furnished by the exhibitor. Accessories are permitted in all classes. A card of explanation may be used.
8.
Decisions of the Judges will be final. Judging will be in accordance with the American Rose Society Guideline for Judging Rose Arrangements. Only authorized personnel will be allowed in the area during judging.
9.
Arrangements must be picked up (claimed) on Monday, October 20, 2008 between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. All containers should be marked with exhibitor's name.

WINDS AND WATERS OF ATALAYA

SECTION A ~ Duchess of Arrangements eligible for the ARS Duchess Award. Fresh roses with dried and/or treated plant material. No fresh plant material other than roses. Designers choice of arrangement type, but type MUST be written on top of card.

CLASS 1

Staged in a niche 40"H x 30"W x 20"D

SECTION B ~ Traditional mass or line mass arrangements eligible for ARS Royalty Award. Using fresh, dried and/or treated plant material.

CLASS 2

Staged in a niche 40"H x 30"W x 20"D

SECTION C ~ Modern arrangements eligible for ARS Artists Award. Fresh roses with dried and/or treated dried plant material. No painted fresh plant material permitted. Man-made materials such as wire may be used.
CLASS 3

Abstract or free form arrangement. Staged on a pedestal 14" square, 40" high.

CLASS 4

Modern parallel arrangement using two designs in a vertical or horizontal manner.

SECTION D ~ Table Artistry eligible for the ARS Court of Ettiquette Award. Fresh roses with fresh and/or dried plant material. Other materials permitted.

CLASS 5


Staged in a niche 40"H x 30"W x 20"D EXHIBITIONAL

two-place settings using china, glasses, napkin, rose arrangement and any other appointments to complete the setting.

CLASS 6

Staged in a niche 40"H x 30"W x 20"D EXHIBITIONAL

SECTION E ~ NOVICE. Must never have won a Blue ribbon in an ARS Show.

 CLASS 7

Fresh roses with dried and/or treated plant material. Other materials may be used. Designers choice of arrangement type, but type MUST be written on top of the card.

MINIATURE ARRANGEMENT SCHEDULE

Arrangements MUST use roses classified as miniatures or mini floras by the American Rose Society (ARS). Designs to be staged on eight-inch (8") square black squares against a beige background. Additional backgrounds may be used, but must fit into allotted space. Designs are not to exceed 10" in height.

SECTION F ~ Traditional arrangement eligible for ARS Mini Royalty Award. Using fresh and/or dried plant material with fresh roses.

CLASS 8

Line or line mass arrangement.
CLASS 9

A line arrangement.

SECTION G ~ Modern arrangement eligible for ARS Mini Artists Award.

CLASS 10

An abstract arrangement.

CLASS 11

Modern arrangement.
Designers choice of arrangement but type must be written on top of card.
