JUNIOR DAIRY SHOWMANSHIP REQUIREMENTS & SCORECARD
  • Junior Dairy members will be allowed to compete in only one (1) showmanship class, regardless of  breed.
  • Animals must be shown by owner.
  • A show harness must be worn by the 4-H'er with the correct number from the type class for the animal he/she is exhibiting.
  • Animals to be shown in Showmanship classes must be registered during check-in.
  • Showmanship divisions will be judged according to the following scorecard:
A.
Showmanship ability
70 points
B.
Appearance of animal
20 points
C.
Appearance of exhibitor
10 points

NOVICE:
For Junior members between seven (7) and ten (10) years of age as of show date. The top two (2) individuals from the Novice Division Showmanship class will be eligible to compete for the Dixon and Anne Lee Cloverbud Showmanship Award. These individuals will not be placed during the competition, but will be placed during the Lee Award competition. Previous Dixon & Lee Award winners will not be allowed to compete in any showmanship classes, but may move up to a Junior Showmanship class.

JUNIOR:
For Junior members between eleven (11) and fourteen (14) years of age as of show date. The top two (2) individuals from the Junior Division Showmanship class will be eligible to compete for the Fred E. Pardue Junior Showmanship Award. These individuals will not be placed during the breed competition but will be placed during the Pardue Award competition. Previous Fred E. Pardue Showmanship Award winners will not be allowed to compete in any Junior Showmanship classes but may move up to a Senior Showmanship class.

SENIOR:
For Junior members between fifteen (15) and twenty (20) years of age as of show date. The top two (2) individuals from the Senior Division Showmanship Classes of each breed will be eligible to compete for the Commissioner's Cup Senior Showmanship Award. These individuals will not be placed during the the competition for the Commissioner's Cup. Previous winners will not be allowed to compete in any senior showmanship classes.

COLLEGIATE:

For Junior members between seventeen (17) and twenty-one (21) years of age as of show date and must be enrolled in a college.
