Junior Beef Cattle exhibitors are exempt from exhibitor and entry fees (with exception of showing animals under a Farm name) when registration is received during the Open Entry Registration Period. Register in August to avoid Late Entry Fees. Junior exhibitors may order additional vehicle hang-tags, if needed, during Entry Registration Period only.

Open to South Carolina youth only. Exhibitors are to be members of 4-H, FFA, or their Junior breed associations. Register using the SC State Fair Online Entry System or a 2008 South Carolina State Fair Official Cattle paper entry form. Entries must be received in the Entry Department during the Entry Registration Periods listed on the Cattle Index page. Exhibitor and entry fees do not apply to Junior Exhibitors when received during the Open Entry Registration Period. Late fees will apply to entries received past the Open Entry Registration Period. Entries are to be recorded in the Exhibitor's name, unless their breed association permits exceptions.

Junior beef cattle not received with the open show entries on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 are to be assigned spaces by 6:00 PM Friday, October 17, 2008. The Show Chairman will check entries, registration papers and assign stall space.

Classes are provided for weaned heifers and steer calves only. No cow/calf pairs except for senior yearling females with natural calf at side. Steers will show by weight. Feeder steers must weigh between 450 and 999 pounds. Market steers are 1000 pounds and over and not over two years of age.

The Junior breed shows will start at 8:30 AM and proceed according to the schedule. Junior exhibitors are expected to show their own animals. Any animal getting loose from the exhibitor twice will be excused from the ring and will not be placed.

Junior exhibitors must show their own animal in the showmanship class -- no substitutions allowed. Junior exhibitors may show only one (1) showmanship class even if they have more than one (1) breed. Payment of premiums will be by check to exhibitors or on request to clubs or chapters. Junior exhibits are expected to be maintained in a clean and orderly manner. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of premium money.

Any Junior exhibitor not winning a premium will receive a $10.00 participation award.
