Professional Division Merit Awards

Painting on Canvas, Wood, or Masonite

(oil, acrylic, encaustic, tempera)

• Must be framed or have finished edges;
• No enhanced photography (See Class #0204).

Painting on Paper, Watercolor Board, or Masonite

(aqua media, watercolor, gouache, acrylic)

• Must be framed under glass or plexiglas.
• EXCEPTION: Painting on Watercolor Board that has been sprayed with sealant must be framed but glass is optional and left to the discretion of the artist; however, the SC State Fair will not be responsible in event of damage to artwork not under glass;
• No enhanced photography (see Class #0204).

Drawing

(pastel, pencil, ink, charcoal)

• Must be framed under glass or plexiglas.

Mixed Media

(two-dimensional work using collage or combination of media, and enhanced photography)

• Must be framed under glass or plexiglas.

Prints

(original etching, lithograph, block print, mono print, serigraph and collograph)

• Must be framed under glass or plexiglas;
• No digitally altered or computer generated prints allowed (see Class #0206).

Photography

(black & white, color, hand-tinted, digitally-altered photographs, and computer generated/digitally-altered prints)

• Must be framed under glass or plexiglas.
• EXCEPTION: Photography printed on canvas must be framed but glass is optional and left to the discretion of the artist; however, the SC State Fair will not be responsible in event of damage to artwork not under glass.

Open Media

(ceramics, glass, fibers, constructions, jewelry) (All items in this section are in a roped off area)

• Must not require special assembly;
• Must not exceed 48" (inches) in any dimension;
• No wearable art other than jewelry;
• Any sharp or hazardous object(s) must be under glass or plexiglas.

Sculpture

(size limitation: 8' x 3' x 2 1/2')   

• Must be freestanding;
• Must be portable, requiring only one person to move;
• No sharp or hazardous objects.
