OPEN ENTRY REGISTRATION begins at 12 Noon on August 1, 2008 and entries
must be received by Noon on August 31, 2008. Exhibitors
may register one of three ways:

Electronically, using the Online Entry System at http://www.scstatefair.org;
-
Postal Mail, download a 2008 Official SC State Fair Fine Art entry form
available at http://www.scstatefair.org and mail to arrive in the Entry Office by Noon of the Closing
Date;

Hand deliver a 2008 Official SC State Fair Fine Art entry form Monday -
Friday to the Dowling Building Administrative Office during
regular office hours of 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM.
LATE ENTRY REGISTRATIONS will be received from 12:01
PM on August 31 through 12:00 Noon on September 4, 2008
and must be accompanied by a Late Fee of $25 per exhibitor.
Absolutely no Fine Art registrations will be accepted
following the close of the Fine Art Late Registration
Period.

ENTRY
REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION ~
- Online entry registrations
are automatically confirmed at time of submission.
- Exhibitors who postal
mail their entry registrations must include a self-addressed
and stamped envelope in order to receive confirmation that
their entry registration has been received. Please do not telephone
the Fair or Entry Office.

ELIGIBILTY
~
- Exhibitor
must be a resident of South Carolina or student attending
a college in South Carolina;
- Only
High school students nineteen or older are eligible
to enter in the Fine Art Department;
- Preschool
- Grade 12 students (public, private, & home
school) must enter in Student
Art Department;
- Artwork
must be original and completed in last two (2) years.

DIVISIONS
~
[The Exhibitor must declare on the entry registration form whether he/she is an Amateur or Professional artist. An exhibitor may register a maximum
of two art works in either the Professional or
Amateur Division, but not both.
The Fine Art Committee allows each artist the discretion
of determining whether to enter as a Professional or an
Amateur; however, once the Amateur
exhibitor declares to be a Professional, he/she may not
enter this show in future years as an Amateur.] |

SPECIFICATIONS
~
- Maximum
of two (2) entries per exhibitor;
- Entries
must be of permanent materials requiring no special
installation;
- (MAXIMUM SIZE 48"X48") Largest
frames must not exceed 48" in length and
48" in width;
- (MINIMUM SIZE 16"x16") Smallest
frames must measure at least 16" in length
and 16" in width;

Classes
requiring frames with glass or plexiglas are:
*0202, 0203, 0204, 0205, *0206, *0302, 0303, 0304,
0305, and *0306;
[Exceptions (*) Classes 0202 and 0302 Painting on Watercolor
Board that
has been sprayed with sealant must be framed
but glass is optional and left to the discretion of
the artist. Also, Classes 0206 and 0306 Photography
printed on canvas must be framed but glass
is optional and left to the discretion of the
artist.]
- Metal
frames must use plexiglas;
- Framed
works must be wired with appropriate hanging devices;
- 3-D
pieces must be free-standing;
- Sculpture
size is limited to 8' x 2' 1/2"(exhibitor
must provide own dolly).

UNACCEPTABLE
~
- Art
work that has been entered or exhibited in any previous
SCSF Fine Art Exhibition;
- Art
work with saw tooth hangers;
- Classroom
art work;
- Step-by-step
art work;
- Uniframes
or frames with exposed glass edges;
- Wet
art work;
- Diptychs
or multiples are not accepted as one piece;
- Collaborative
work.

PRICING ART WORK ~
The exhibitor (artist) must state on the entry form in whole dollars the Public Price, Purchase Patron Price (same or lower than Public Price), or NFS (Not for Sale). PLEASE NOTE: Art work listed "Not for Sale" will not be eligible for a Top Award. |

Art
work 'juried out' of the exhibit will be
listed by entry number on the SC State Fair web site
by midnight of Wednesday, October 1, 2008. From the home page in the "Right Now"
box, click on Competive
Exhibits Judging Results. This information
will not be released by any other means. The SC State Fair management reserves the right to remove any art work deemed inappropriate for this type exhibit and to interpret any rule or regulation and determine all matters pertaining thereto. |

Fine Art Award winners will be listed by entry
number on the web site at http://www.scstatefair.org by
midnight of Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Award winners without
an e-mail address on entry form will be contacted by telephone. |

ART PREVIEW & AWARDS RECEPTION |
Date:
Sunday, October 5, 2008 ~ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Award
winners and artists whose work is juried into
the exhibit are invited to the Fine Art Premiere Preview
Reception in the Cantey Building. Please
respect the invitation to this reception as to the Invitee
and one (1) guest. Enter Fairgrounds at
Gate 6 and proceed to Cantey Building.

PUBLIC
SALES REGISTER
(or
frequently asked question, "What's that RED Dot for?)

| During
the Fair, there is a "Sales Register" to record
persons names, and their contact information, who are interested
in purchasing art work in the exhibit. It is the
responsibility of the artist to check his art for sales
interest during the Fair. If your art work is marked
with a red dot on the entry tag, ask to see the Sales Register.
The SC State Fair Fine Art Department Staff only negotiates
purchases for the Purchase
Patron Program and is not responsible or liable
for any personal transactions. |

Artwork
will be released upon presentation of Claim Receipt(s). If you cannot claim your art work on these dates, please make prior arrangements with another person to claim your art work on the dates designated above. Art work not claimed on these dates become the property of the SC State Fair. The art work will be removed from the Cantey Building following these dates and donated to charity. NO EXCEPTIONS!
